| Why? Hmmmm... well there is no really
good particular reason for me (Joe) to be going other than Greg asked me to
go. Greg says we're going because we turn 30 in September and
why not celebrate with something a little unusual. Hopefully we will have
some fun mountain biking, hiking, and repairing the Winnebaigis!

Addendum Sept 6,1999
In the beginning the trip was an adventure and challenge in
conquering a 10,000 mile journey to Alaska. The Destination of Alaska because
its distance, natural beauty and rugged terrain presented a challenge and a
reward. The challenge was to get a 1984 Winnebago to Alaska, a machine most
would think unsuitable for such a journey. The reward was the achievement that
we could do what most people wouldn't try and the splendid beauty of
Alaska.
The journey home presents a new challenge to me, a search for
inner strength and peace as to why my dear friend Natasha will no longer be
following the journey as many of you still are. My journey homeward has begun
with much anguish and distress, only time can help me understand the tragic
car accident that took her life. A quote from her sister put it so eloquently "A beautiful light went out on earth but a new star burns brightly in
Heaven". I know some day I might be able to appreciate Valdez and the Prince
William Sound, for now it is with great numbness that I observe the
surroundings.
