| Welcome to the Greg & Joe's Excellent Adventure to Alaska Page The Adventure to Alaska is over, we're here!!! I guess its the adventure in Alaska!!! The Journey home has just begun... Sept 6, 1999 Latest News: September 19, 1999 - Snow!!! - We traveled through some snow in Wyoming!!!! September 18, 1999 - Salt Lake City - Probably the cleanest major city I have ever seen. We even managed to find a pub with the PSU alumni association watching the football game. September 15, 1999 - The Sierra Nevada Mountains - I left Greg in Yosemite and took a motorcycle ride up through the Sierra Nevada's to Reno, NV. The ride was among the most spectacular motorcycle rides I have ever taken, the scenery was awesome and the road was perfect. September 14, 1999 - Yosemite National Park - The trip south was worth the few extra miles. The redwoods are awesome but the rock formations rival anything we saw in Alaska. September 14, 1999 - Laundry - Our first time doing laundry all trip, NOT!!! Mental note for next trip, get a bigger RV and hire a maid!!! September 12, 1999 - Seattle - The day was perfect in Seattle... for some odd reason there were perfect blue skies! There was a view of Mount Reiner from the Space Needle, we were told that happens about a 100 days out of the year... September 9, 1999 - British Columbia - The drive from Prince Rupert to Seattle wasn't anything special except for a section of BC that took us down Route 1 through a really nice canyon. September 9/10, 1999 - Life on a Ferry - No I certainly don't have sailors legs... Ack I hate that rocking boat feeling but I survived the trip. The first day was rather rainy so we didn't have the camera's out but the whales decided to put on a great show... Argh. An Orca was jumping clear out of the water just like you would see at Sea World!!! September 8, 1999 - Spawning Salmon - Greg braved the rain to go watch the salmon jump... We've been told that after 7ish the area would be filled with grizzlies feeding on the easy prey. September 6, 1999 - We just left Alaska - Though we will be returning to Haines Alaska in a day to catch the ferry to leave Alaska for good, this marks a significant milestone. The Winnebaigis has survived the trip to Alaska and all over the rough roads of Alaska. September 4, 1999 - Glacier cruise from Valdez - What seemed to be a near perfect day, after 4 days of waiting for weather to clear enough to take a cruise to the glaciers. The storm from the previous day was swept away and the sunlight was perfect for viewing the deep blue icebergs that fall into the see from the mighty rivers of ice.
